UFE Annual conference: Welcome to tomorrow’s world!

arton1277

It would be stating the obvious to say that the world is undergoing major transformations with the digital revolution and the energy transition. In our sector, consumption habits are changing; generation means are evolving and the whole customer relation is being transformed. UFE’S annual conference will take place on December 5th, under the high-patronage of Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic: do not miss three face-to-face discussions, with the best experts, on the key issues of innovation, decentralisation and cybersecurity!

In a changing and uncertain market environment, all energy companies are today looking, irrespectively of their sector, to consolidate or even renew their business models. In a context where the energy transition accelerates the transformation of generation means and the service offers that are always more tailored to match the consumer’s needs, innovation remains the cornerstone to develop businesses. Then, the question remains: at which pace innovation should take place, so as not to be distanced by others? This will be at the heart of the face-to-face discussions between our strategy experts during the first morning session of the annual conference.

Decentralisation and self-consumption: a real challenge for networks

Are we going towards a clash between the new and the old? This is how some would like to make it sound. On the one hand, the proponents of individual and collective self-consumption present it as an answer to a societal evolution. On the other hand, the guardians of a well-functioning electric system, as we know it, underline how the system allows everyone to have access to electricity, at any time and everywhere on the territory. So who is right? Jean Gaubert, National Energy Ombudsman, and Eric Piolle, Mayor of Grenoble, two leading contributors to the debate, will address those key issues and their technologic, economic and political implications.

Cybersecurity: electricity is also at stake

The largely covered cyberattacks of the recent months send shivers down your spine: their size, the diversity of their targets and the damage they caused reveal the dark side of the fabulous opportunities given by Internet. What about electricity and energy infrastructures? According to the World Energy Council, those infrastructures are also at risk, especially given their key role in the economy functioning and the possibilities for the cyber-saboteurs to cause physical damage. From then on, what solutions can we bring? This is what we will figure out with the cross-analysis of issues and possible answers by the two best experts on this topic, from NATO and the French National Authority for cyber defence and network and information security. Beyond those face-to-face discussions, UFE annual conference will welcome leading figures like François Brottes, CEO of RTE, Xavier Caïtucoli, CEO of DIRECT ENERGIE, Sylvie Jehanno, DALKIA General Manager, Isabelle Kocher, CEO of ENGIE, Ludovic Le Moan, CEO of SIGFOX, Jean-Bernard Lévy, CEO of EDF, Philippe Monloubou, CEO of ENEDIS, Nicolas Sadirac, CEO of Ecole 42…
