Letter platform for electromobility
At UFE’s initiative, the Platform for Electromobility sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, urging the Commission not to review the 2020 objectives reducing CO2 emissions from passenger cars. In the context of the current crisis which is impacting all economic sectors including the automotive one, it is instead important that the European Union and the Member States implement or increase mechanisms supporting the demand for electric vehicles, which will help the EU reaching its CO2 emission reduction targets. On the long term, the Platform recommends maintaining the end-of-sale target for combustion vehicles as they are key to achieve carbon neutrality.
The Platform for Electromobility, comprised of European road vehicle manufacturers, train and battery producers, infrastructure managers and suppliers, electricity stakeholders, operators and users of public transport as well as cities and civil society, is committed to create a sustainable, zero-emission, multimodal transport system in Europe using low-carbon electricity.
