UFE and a coalition of mobility ecosystem call to widen the scope of the European standards for safe and secure truck parking areas to zero-emission trucks and refrigerated trailers

On the 14th July, UFE and 27 European actors of the mobility ecosystem (including Transport&Environment, ACEA, Wind Europe) called the European Commission and the members of its Expert Group for Safe and Secure Parking Areas for Trucks to extend the scope of the standards for safe and secure truck parking areas to the zero-emission trucks and refrigerated trailers. The charging and refuelling infrastructure for such vehicles should be deployed along the EU motorways to ensure the decarbonisation of Europe’s most polluting sector. We thus call to add to the delegating acts on these standards the assessment of the existing grid capacity, the optimisation for new parking sites by location, the deployment of plug-in stations for refrigerated trailers as well as the linkage between charging requirements and the CEF funding.
