Did you know? The electricity consumption will not skyrocket with the development of electro-mobility

If all cars were electric cars, electricity consumption would only increase by 90 TWH per year, namely 19% in comparison to the actual total electricity consumption. The challenge is not directly linked to the absolute level of electric cars consumption but to load management. Indeed, if everyone loads his or her car exactly at the same time, the electricity networks could be unbalanced and the production capacities could be insufficient. Moreover, this figure is to be compared with the savings on the trade balance associated to oil imports, of which the transport sector only represents today nearly €30 billion per year.
