Did you know ? Floatgen is the first offshore wind turbine connected in France

Last September 18th, the first offshore wind turbine in France, installed 22km off the Croisic, started its production to supply electricity equivalent to the Croisic town’s population and its surroundings (5 000 inhabitants). This marine wind turbine, named Floatgen, has the particularity to float. This technology has two main advantages compared to conventional offshore wind turbines: it can be installed far from the coast, where winds are strongest, and, its onshore assembly reduces construction costs. Its commissioning marked a symbolic stage for France, as it initiates a new start for offshore wind energy thanks to a promising technology and constitutes an opportunity for France to become world leader in floating wind energy.
