Did you know? Carbon price, an efficient tool to reduce CO2 emissions

A carbon price floor between 20 and 30 euros per ton of CO2 applied to the French and German electric sector would be sufficient to reduce the CO2 emissions by approximately 40 million tons a year. This represents more than 10% of CO2 emissions due to the electric sector in both countries.
In order to mitigate the current surplus, the incomes generated by the carbon price floor could be used to purchase an equivalent volume of allowances on the EU-ETS market.
